| James Jenkins, CPA
Jim Jenkins has been solving America’s most difficult
tax predicaments for more than two decades. As a scholar
of tax law and Internal Revenue Service procedures,
Jim has amassed one of the finest computerized tax
research libraries in southeastern Michigan. Jim has
the proficiency and finesse needed to find answers
to large and small tax questions.
Jim is a product of southeast Michigan. He graduated
from the Detroit Institute of Technology and became
a Certified Public accountant in 1976. Jim worked
for two of Michigan’s most prominent accounting
firms before opening the doors of Jenkins & Co.,
Certified Public Accounts, in 1980, which now employs
a full-time staff of ten. Jim’s knowledgeable
nature and his honest, but aggressive, approach mean
his clients avoid unnecessary audits and take immediate
advantage of recent changes in tax laws and procedures.
His years of experience with IRS audits and negotiations
are also a significant plus for his clients.
In 1990, Jim put his insight and resources to work
for taxpayers and tax prepares around the country
by creating Tax Research Services, Inc. This toll-free
research hotline has attracted puzzled taxpayers,
but mostly tax prepares, bookkeepers and accountants
in need of a second opinion or who have a specific
tax problem.
Jim has also developed an unusual niche. Early in his
career he encountered a number of clients who had
failed to file a tax return for one or more years.
He found he had a special talent for getting these
non-filers back in the IRS loop without them losing
everything. In 1994, Jim authored a book titled “Failure
to File”, in two editions, one for non-filers
and one for accountants.
Jim has spoken before numerous organizations on a variety
of financial issues. His personality and astute knowledge
have garnered him many invitations.
Jim Jenkins is a two-time Accounting Today Gold Medal
Award winner and has appeared in Fortune magazine,
USA Today, the Detroit News, and the Detroit Free
Press.
